Chapter 12: Bad News

All six people were sitting in the living room of Ben and Muriel’s house. UCM explained who Ben and Muriel were to his friends.
“Hey Ben, I have a question for you.”
Ben looked to UCM and asked, “Yes? What is it?”
“What happened to this place? Most of it looks like it was set on fire.”
“It happened after you left,” Ben started. “This insane person showed up at the farm and tried to break in. I shot him in the arm but that just made him mad, so he set most parts of the house on fire. Luckily, Muriel and I escaped the house. We came back here later after the fire had gone out.”
“Did you know what the guy looked like?”
“He had a brown cloak on and his face was covered in blood. The man mentioned something about how he used to work for someone named Blood,” Muriel said.
UCM and Kageri looked at each other.
“You don’t think-?” Kageri started.
“It can’t be. He was killed.”
“You know something about that guy?” Ben asked.
“Yeah…he’s known as-…”
“The Assassin,” Kageri finished.

“Curt, Rix, we have visitors,” Safix said.
“Who?” Curt asked.
“They say their names are MSC and Ace,” Safix replied.
Curt stopped what he was working on and looked up, “MSC and Ace?”

“Well this is a surprise to say the least,” Curt said. “What are you doing here?”
“We came here because UCM is trying to reform Dead Reckoning,” MSC said.
“UCM is alive?” Rix asked.
“He’s alive alright. He yelled at us earlier,” Ace said.
“Were any of the other members of Dead Reckoning found?” Safix asked.
“Yeah, Destructrion and Kageri were found,” MSC said.
“Then that leaves just LC11 and SL to be found,” Curt said.

UCM, Kageri, DT, and Alpha were currently in the tunnels. There was no point in staying at the farm when three of their enemies were still running about.
“Now where do we go?” Kageri asked.
“We either head to Cobalia or to back to Chao Club.”
“Cobalia is all the way up north,” Kageri said.
“Yeah but The Assassin is likely to be there.”
“What makes you so sure about that?” Alpha asked.
“When I was in Cobalia, I saw The Assassin sneaking around at different times. That’s apparently his home.”
“What if he’s not there? Then what would you do?” DT asked.
“Then I’d feel like an idiot and head back to Chao Club. But, feeling like an idiot would be worth it knowing that I at least looked for The Assassin.”
